How to Apply

HELP YOUR PRESS-ONS LAST 2–3+ WEEKS.

A long-lasting application begins with careful preparation, the double-glue method, and steady, even pressure.

Actual wear time varies depending on natural nail condition, daily activity, water exposure, and application technique.

Long-Wear Application

Long wear begins before the first nail is placed.

With careful preparation and correct application, your Selviare press-ons may last 2–3+ weeks. Take your time with each step and avoid rushing the process.

Choose Your Application Method

Use the method included with your set.

Wear time, preparation, and removal differ between adhesive tabs and nail glue. Always follow the instructions supplied with the exact product you are using.

Flexible Wear

Adhesive tabs

Use adhesive tabs only when they are supplied with, or approved for, your set. They are suited to shorter wear and can be a gentler option when applied and removed according to the included instructions.

Longer Wear

Nail glue

For longer wear, follow the glue instructions included with your set. Apply a thin, controlled layer, keep adhesive away from skin, and never use more glue than the product instructions recommend.

Before Adhesive

Confirm every size first

Pre-fit every nail before opening adhesive. If you are unsure, use the Press-On Nail Size Guide and follow the product-specific fit guidance.

Application Steps

Follow each step in order.

Prepare Thoroughly

Prepare your natural nails.

Wash your hands and nails with soap, then dry them completely.

  • Gently push back the cuticles and remove any remaining skin from the natural nail plate.
  • Lightly buff the nail surface until the visible shine is removed. Avoid over-filing or thinning the natural nail.
  • Wipe each nail with the provided 90%+ isopropyl alcohol prep pad to remove dust, oil, and residue.
Pro tip Do not apply hand cream, cuticle oil, or lotion after preparing the nails.

Find the Fit

Choose every size first.

Match every press-on to your natural nails before applying adhesive. Each nail should cover the natural nail from sidewall to sidewall without pressing against the surrounding skin. Visit the Press-On Nail Size Guide for the complete measuring and fit-check process.

Pro tip If you are between sizes, choose the slightly larger size and gently refine the edges if needed.

Double-Glue Method

Apply a thin layer to both surfaces.

Apply a thin, even layer of glue to your natural nail. Apply another thin layer to the back of the press-on nail.

This double-glue method helps create a more complete bond between the natural nail and the press-on.

Pro tip Avoid using excessive glue, as it may overflow onto the surrounding skin.

Position with Care

Align at approximately 45°.

Position the press-on close to the cuticle at approximately a 45° angle, without overlapping the skin. Lower it slowly and evenly onto the natural nail.

Pro tip Pause before pressing to make sure the nail looks straight and feels comfortable.

Create the Bond

Press firmly for 30–60 seconds.

Apply steady, even pressure for 30–60 seconds. Press across the center and edges to help seal the entire nail.

Pro tip Avoid shifting the nail while the glue is setting.

Protect the Bond

Avoid soaking for the first 2 hours.

For the strongest bond, avoid prolonged water exposure during the first 2 hours after application.

  • Avoid long showers.
  • Do not swim or soak your hands.
  • Wear gloves or wait before washing dishes.
Pro tip Normal light handwashing is different from prolonged soaking; dry your hands carefully afterward.

After Application

Protect the bond during the first two hours.

The first hours after application matter. Give the glue time to set and treat your nails gently to support a longer-lasting finish.

Keep them dry for 2 hours

Avoid long showers, swimming, dishwashing, and soaking your hands while the glue develops its bond.

Treat nails as adornment

Do not use the nails to open, scrape, pry, or lift objects. Repeated pressure can shorten wear time.

Never force a lifted edge

If a nail lifts or becomes uncomfortable, remove it carefully rather than pulling or pressing it back into place.
